*what (we’re doing)

Wedding Road Trip: (noun) A pre-wedding road trip around the country to see friends and family prior to signing a marriage certificate. This trip focuses on learning more about marriage and the commitment there-in.

Usage: Jaime Case and Chris Hodges are going on a wedding road trip around the United States. Let’s hope they don’t break up before they reach the end of six weeks.

Some Rules of the Road

1. We can only eat at locally-owned restaurants and grocery stores. Trader Joe’s, the greatest grocery store in the ENTIRE WORLD, is the only exception.

2. We must work out every single day, because we didn’t just spend the last three months at Crunch for nothing.

3. Our friends and family names will never appear in this blog without their permission. Unless, of course, we hate you. Just kidding. I think.

4. The driving must be split, even though Jaime is clearly the better driver (and coincidentally the one typing up this page right now).

5. We must interview someone in every city we visit.

6. If we promote something on this blog, it’s because we believe in it. We will never write anything about a product or service that is against what we believe, think, or do.

7. Everyone we visit must sign off on our impending marriage.

More rules to come…

    Dear Mr. and Ms. Ford,

We tried to email info@weddingroadtrip.com but
    emails bounced back to us.

We are in the process of writing an article
on successful social media examples and would
love to include your story, Wedding Road Trip.

The writer, Kaede Seville, has a monthly column in
Brain, a Japanese publication similar to Creativity.
Aside from Brain, she has columns in Dentsuho
(similar to Advertising Age) and Nikkei Marketing
Journal (equivalent to the Wall Street Journal).

We were able to get information from your website
and would like to include a color photo of you both.

We would be glad to give photo credit as well as send
    you copy of the magazine.

We hope to hear from you soon as we are on a deadline.

    Thank you.

  • Jaime,
I love what you’re doing and the fact that you are a freelance writer and social media consultant (I am building my own portfolio as one)is even better!

And hey, we have something more in common! I spent my college years at good old Fresno State (go bulldogs!). Great writing, I’ll be checking back often! Safe travels!

Love what you are doing and glad you came to Ford WHQ to meet Scott Monty. I’m a Ford employee and I’m glad you chose a Ford Fusion as your chariot for the road trip. This is a great idea and you’ve done a great job with the website.

A good start to a happy marriage together. Remember a happy marriage is easy, it’s the next 50 to 70 years of living together that is difficult!

  • Very cool site! I find your rules of the road very entertaining, but as a cheapskate I’m wondering how you to are keeping costs in line on this trip. Camping? Couchsurfing? Traveling can get pricey if you don’t have access to a kitchen. If you need more money-saving tips, check out my savvy-spending blog, BargainBabe.com.

I’m going to link to you soon!

  • Seriously beyond in love with this idea! My marriage therapist father and I have a mission to help couples through their weddings into their marriage! (We even won a Trendsetter award for it from Modern Bride Magazine!) I’ll be reading more because this is an UNBELIEVABLY amazing idea and better than ANY marriage preparation class. =)

    See you on twitter! (thefirstdance)

  • Sure, Gwen- email us at info@weddingroadtrip.com. Happy to help!

Hey! Were thinking of something like this, but nowhere as organized. Learned about this thru a friend of a friend on Facebook. Can I ask you some questions?

  • Stefanie Stefanie

I thought the road trip was after the wedding.. but fun either way. Are you going on a honeymoon also?

  • Uncle Buck Uncle Buck

Great idea! Proud of you for doing something different. I’ll see you in Ventura. Sorry again that I’ll be out of town when you come by.

  • Carrie- sorry to hear about your layoff. The details: we are going on a six week road trip around the country, followed by a family (along with a few friends) ceremony and party in Ventura one month later. The whole thing is costing us way less than a traditional wedding- plus we get to spend so much time with people that we don’t usually get to see. Don’t lose hope- there is a way to make it work in a way that you can afford!

  • Great Wedding Idea!!! You two are magic. I just left comments on the blog, I will follow religiously and earn my keep. You tell Chris I’m NOT just some random person. :P

  • Carrie R. Carrie R.

Jaime…you are giving me hope considering I JUST got laid off when were trying to save so we could get engaged and married. I want the details…are you havin a small wedding and visiting everyone BEFOREHAND? Or how is this working? I’ve been really bummed this week about our dreams being squashed…so any hope you can give me, i’ll love you all the more! xx
